Our luxury rooms

Our rooms and suites, 10 in total, are all different in design and character, each interior individually designed by award-winning interior designer, Alison Tordoff of Windermere-based Fidget Design.

Our rooms are named after places in the Lake District such as a village, lake or fell (fell is the Cumbrian word for hill or mountain). You will see well-known names like Windermere and some less familiar such as Wansfell, Crinkle Crags and Miller Ground.

All our furniture has been designed and built by another Windermere-based company, Lakeland Fells Furniture. Andy Smith served part of his apprenticeship building furniture for Cedar Manor before going on to set up Lakeland Fells. He has continued to work with us and now all wooden furniture throughout the Hotel has been hand-crafted right here in Windermere. He always selects FSC woods and designs the furniture to be sympathetic to the Victorian “gothic” style which is in keeping with the age of the building.

We are very conscious of the environment and the impact that tourism plays and have taken this into consideration when developing the rooms with Ally and Andy; taking advice on water efficient taps and showers in our bathrooms; re-glazing/double glazing; changing our boilers; insulating; using recycled materials where possible; selecting paint that is lead-free; adding thermostatic controls to the radiators and using led lighting where practicable. In short, we are constantly working at improving the efficiency of the hotel with minimum impact on the guest experience.
